Design Tip of the Week (11.3.08): Everything Old is New Again

A recent trip to Metropolitan Museum of Art made me realize how so much of what we see in design can be tracked back to the artifacts in a museum. Over the next few weeks we would like to share some of our favorite pieces from the MET and their modern day equivalents that are yours for the taking.

Enjoy this little trip in early home interior design to awaken your appreciation for what was old and now is new.

These glasses are from Germany dated somewhere in the late 15th century. Notice the raised dots that give the glassware texture and character.

Here are some modern day examples of these glass pieces for your home.

A reasonably priced piece of history has been captured in Anthropologie's Positively Dotty Glasses priced at $10 a glass.

For more of a splurge, you can buy these Juliska Florence Tumblers from Neiman Marcus.
