I'm Dreaming of White Wallpaper

While you may be dreaming of a white Christmas this holiday season - here in Miami Beach - I am dreaming of white wallpaper! I am moving this Friday to a new apartment and trying to come up with interesting/subtle ways to add some texture. These wall papers are fantastic, beautifully designed and some are even paintable! They are also a great way to cover up imperfect walls:

Dandy Chandy Tuesday ~ Retro Glamour

Being down here in Miami really gets me thinking about retro glamour. When I buy a place of my own down here, I would put this very feminine, retro purple chandelier from Neiman Marcus in my bedroom with this very masculine wallpaper over at 2modern by Graham & Brown. It's the perfect mix of masculine & feminine, retro and glamour!

DIY Tips & Tricks ~ Fabric Wallpaper

We are just loving this idea about making your own wallpaper out of FABRIC
from Kim Myles of Myles of Style on HGTV! Genius!

Design Dilemma: You rent and can't paint, but want to bring color to your apartment's bland walls.

Kim's DIY Solution: Fabric wallpaper that doesn't damage walls

1. Buy inexpensive, colorful fabric — enough to cover at least one wall.

2. Wash the fabric first so the color won't transfer.

3. Apply liquid starch onto the wall with a paint roller. Note: The starch adheres better if the paint isn't an eggshell finish.

4. Smooth your fabric onto the wall and apply a second coat of liquid starch on top.

5. Let it dry — instant wallpaper.

6. When it's time to move on, dampen the fabric with a sponge and peel it off.

Here are more common decorating dilemmas with fresh advice from designer Kim Myles of HGTV.

Design Tip of the Week (9.15.08): Don't Be a Wall Flower

Wallpaper has come a long way from your grandmothers floral disaster in the powder room. Today's wallpaper screams to be noticed rather than blend in with the background of your room. With thousands of beautiful and rich designs available, your options are endless. Wallpaper is a smart alternative to painting as its durable and easy to clean and it adds texture, style and personality to any room. It is no longer difficult hang and even more appealing...not hard to peal off. If you're interested in having a green space, wallpaper comes in a variety of natural fibers like bamboo, seagrass, and burlap. Here are some examples of fun wallpaper:

{Cavern Home - Blackbird Kraft}

{Graham & Brown LLB Mystique Wallpaper}

{Inhabit's Wall Flats - Bud}

{The Family - Custom Wallpaper by Lisa Bengtsson}

{Graham & Brown Linda Barker Serenity Wallpaper}

Some wallpapering tips:
*Wallpaper one wall in a room and select color from the wallpaper color pallette to paint the rest of the walls.
*Use a wallpaper with a big pattern, cut a sample of the pattern out of the extra wallpaper and frame it on an opposing painted wall.
*Opt for wallpaper over paint in a room with noticeable wall imperfections.
*Use wallpaper to express your creativity and individuality, think of it as art.

Parlor Love

We are in LOVE with Brocade Home - their furniture and accessories have a modern take on furniture that you would see in an 18th century french parlor. We think the photography on their website is really inspiring, and check out their blog as well. Who wouldn't want this bedroom below?!
