JULY Primed4Design{er} of the Month ~ Capitol Style

Morgan and Jason's Washington, DC row house is the perfect combination of new and vintage. Their home has all the traditional details you would find in a DC row house but has been updated to suite their lifestyle. The DC couple transformed this house which was pretty much in its original condition purchased from the only family that had ever lived there. Their style is fun and ecclectic with a combination of contemporary design, antiques, and a little shabby chic!

One of the most drastic updates done to the house was the remodel of their kitchen. Once a small galley kitchen with no counter space and a barely functioning stove the newly designed kitchen is the focal point of the first floor. To open up the house they integrated the kitchen into the living areas surrounding it, their sun room and dining room.

Morgan integrated elements into the kitchen design to display many of of her decorative pieces and china collection. She had shelving put in at the corner of the kitchen island and class doors on two of the main cabinet areas.

And of course Morgan shares our love of chandeliers! She has a few throughout her house and not to mention one in their new kitchen!

The Dining Room

Original touches found throughout the DC row house include crystal door knobs, the original bathroom tile, transom windows above the interior doors, and intricate molding throughout the house.

Each room in their house has a unique feel and something fun and interesting to look at. Whether its a beautiful piece of furniture, unique artwork, a striking mirror, bold colors and patterns, or one of her many fun and fabulous lamps!

The living room, with brick fireplace, antique table and bar area.

A bright and comfortable dining room with adjoining sun room.

A fun guest bedroom with navy with white accents that any house guest would love to stay in.

Their antique dresser in the master bedroom.

The dressing/sitting room (guys only allowed and of course George, the family dog!)

A passed down mohair couch placed for lounging in the study.

After enjoying Morgan's handywork on the inside of the house, its nice to sit outside on their cozy porch and enjoy a nice DC afternoon.
