Primed4Design{er} of the Month ~ A Palm Springs Oasis

Brad Levine, designer and owner of B.Levine Productions, was tasked to transform an architecturally significant Palm Springs home. Creating a plan of attack for this 3400 square foot home with 18 foot ceilings was not a small feet. His design, mid-century modern, circa 1950's-60's Palm Springs, meets 21st-century modern. Brad approached this task with two levels of design in mind. One was changing the appearance of the house through the use of color while matching elements that remained in the home. The second was adding new and fun new design elements like the striped paint effect on the wall in the bedroom and a laser sculpted textured wall in the great room by Panel Max (a 10X16 foot wall effect).

Brad changed the main color palette from browns and blacks to greys and blacks working around certain elements that had to stay, such as the brown travertine tile that ran throughout the house. He selected colors within the grey family that worked with the brown floor.

Brad picked three colors plus an accent color to keep the color selection manageable for the exterior front of the home (grey, peppercorn grey, sealskin grey, and a wild sage green). All of the colors utilized in the exterior were then woven into the interior color palette with other color splashes such as a diamond white, blackberry, and a platinum grey.
